Northern Rockies Wolf Project
At the end of this month I will be spending some time in and around Yellowstone with Wolf Tracker Nathan Varley (www.wolftracker.com). The goal is to document as much as possible regarding the wolf management conflict that has been taking a lot of heat from all angles in the recent couple years. I will be meeting with hunters and ranchers, biologists and observers, trying to dig-in behind the lines of this conflict and see what the people really have to say. Hopefully the management of this threatened species can be an example for other ecosystems and animals, but it would take a miracle to make everyone happy. The end product is yet to be determined, but photos, a blog, and HD video will all be available at a later date. ~ dm

Loaded Dory Films
I have recently teamed up with my old friend Crosby LeVeen to start an adventure film company called Loaded Dory Films. We currently have two adventure-documentary series in the works, both pertaining to some pretty remote places, the unforgiving environment, and wildlife. After spending some time with Crosby last fall aboard the F/V Wizard up in the Bering Sea, (Crosby fishing and I filming), we finally concluded that nothing is holding us back from turning our dreams into a reality. We actually met about ten years ago on a bus in Guatemala and have kept in close contact ever since. More to come on the shows and any updates as we look forward to bring you some unbelievable stories... Check out www.loadeddoryfilms.com ~ dm

"La Ciudad"
Zocalo, the 'town square' of Mexico City. Ancient and very artistic, never a dull moment. Literally hundreds of thousands walking the streets as Silvio Rodriguez, the Cuban musician and poet, endulged the locals with a free concert. The crowd chanted 'Cuba Si, Yankees No.' Silvio's voiced echoed through alleyways as rain soaked the sidewalks. A moment I will never forget ~ dm

CASE BRENNINKMEYER
Case Brenninkmeyer, a great friend and ambassador to the higher elevations, tragically died early this year while on a hut to hut ski trip with his girlfriend Claire Dixon. The news hit family and friends hard. Case died doing what he loved, with a girl that he loved, and together they took on the greatest adventure of all. I wanted to share this photo of Case on Denali. Case buddy, ‘long may you run’
